Fitness Theory

Start your fitness career here! This basic theory course will enable you to gain information on how to keep everyone healthy and fit, all while staying safe. Topics covered include: an introduction to human anatomy and physiology, skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and nervous systems. You will also explore movement analysis, basic nutrition and active living concepts. This course is a Prerequisite for all of the BCRPA & CFES fitness modules.

Weight Training

Deepen your knowledge of anatomy and physiology and examine the principles of fitness, program design and movement mechanics. You will learn practical teaching skills required to design basic weight training programs. Come prepared to be in the gym.

Prerequisite: Passing of BCRPA’s Fitness Theory exam, Emergency First Aid and CPR A (minimum), registered as a Fitness Leader.

Personal Training

Personal Trainer - a term used to describe professionals who work with clients to improve their physical and mental well being. This course covers advanced weight training techniques, fitness assessment, advanced program design, special populations, nutrition, health screening, current business practices, legal liability and professional ethics.

Older Adults

A specialty designation course aimed at education and increasing your awareness of the factors involved when dealing with older adults in exercise.  





A 16-hour course specialty module designed to give you information on exercise physiology, physical properties of water, equipment, leadership skills, class design and exercise selection.
